Jessica Boynton is a surfer, designer, and a PhD chemist. Her science background gives her a unique perspective into the materials technology of swimwear design.
She started surfing in 2014 and quickly fell in love with it.

When Dave approached her to create a rash guard that offered women rib protection as well, she jumped at the chance. So she used her passion for fashion and brought her technical background to bear on solving this problem in an innovative way.

The Rib Cloud creates a “cloud” of protection around your ribs, allowing you to surf for longer and more comfortably.

“Anyone who has been on a surf trip wearing just a swimsuit after only surfing in a wetsuit (or if you just haven’t surfed in a while or maybe it’s your first time) knows the pain that can be caused from your ribs hitting your board. We even designed the Rib Cloud with hip bone protectors to make sure we cushion that area as well”.

Jessica also added a tropical and feminine touch by accentuating the natural curves of the body with different colours and patterns.

“I wanted to create something that was functional but still looked feminine and fun”.

How Does It Work?

The black front panel is made of 2mm thick Neoprene with padded segments providing excellent rib, hip and torso protection.
The elbow-length sleeves and back are created with smooth Lycra offering UPF 50+ sun protection.
The tropic blue background features a floral-themed Lycra print on the back in peach, aqua and blue shades.
The print is repeated on the upper front. The Rib Cloud logo adorns a sleeve and the lower front.

The smooth interior of the Rib Cloud is designed to be worn on bare skin over a swimsuit or wetsuit.
Or, it works just as great when worn under a wetsuit. The choice is yours depending on conditions.

Care is easy: Rinse after use and allow to air dry. The Rib Cloud is available in women’s sizes X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large.
